What an appropriate quote for my first post. Because whilst I will continually criticize current (and past) governments, political decisions and political processes I do believe that democracy is the best system we have. We all know that democracy is far from perfect, in fact the only things further from perfection are the systems of government humanity has tried. But blame here has to be labeled on both sides as George Bernard Shaw put it “Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.” So whilst incompetent and immoral government is very much the problem, the millions of citizens who allow it to occur must share some of the responsibility.
I think I will finish my first post with a final quote. Political motive is a moot point for me and a concern I have with every decision any government makes. It seems to stay in government is more important than being a good government.
